Michael LaScola joins our team as a laboratory technician/lab manager. He will study how defects in the ribosome drive complex disease using zebrafish as a model organism. We do not have a picture of the cake because the cake was too small and we all ate our slices too quickly (@Leo). Time for 2 cakes…

Lab celebration!
Kamena was promoted to Staff Member at Carnegie (tenure-track-equivalent), so we all celebrated with some delicious ramen!
Welcome Andrew and Benjamin
This summer we welcomed two new undergraduates in the lab. They shared a cake, but not a project 🙂 Andrew fell in love with zebrafish whereas Benjamin enjoys long hours in our tissue culture room!
So many awesome events!
We are so behind on the lab updates, so this post will try to encompass several fun activities we did 🙂
Welcome to Diego!
Diego joined our zebrafish team in November, but we have been too busy sorting embryos to write this post! A warm welcome from all of us 🙂 We did not skip on our cake tradition, but the pictures are nowhere to be found…

Happy Holidays from the Kostova Lab!
Lab lunch, cupcakes, door decoration, skiing ribosomes! What else do you need?! (Maybe just the ability to hang out without masks because COVID is gone…) Well, here is to a better 2022!
